1330258 Siloximinosteroids JENAPHARM VEB 21 Dec 1971 59406/71 Addition to 1229511 Heading C2U [Also in Division C3] The invention comprises:- (A) a number of specific 3-trialkylsiloximino- 13#-methyl steroids falling within the scope of the invention of Specification 1,229,511; (B) optically active or racemic, saturated or unsaturated, 13#-ethyl steroids containing at least one optionally substituted syn and/or anti trialkylsilyl-ketoxime group and optionally containing at least one further substituent selected from esterified or etherified, primary, secondary or phenolic hydroxyl groups, free, esterified or etherified tertiary hydroxyl groups, free or ketalized oxo groups, halogen atoms, and optionally substituted alkenyl or alkynyl radicals; and their preparation from 13#-ethyl steroids containing at least one ketoxime group and wherein any hydroxyl substituent may be free, esterified or etherified, by reaction with an appropriate hexa-alkyldisilazane optionally in conjunction with an appropriate trialkylhalosilane and in a dipolar aprotic solvent; and (C) a process for preparing 13#-ethyl compounds of class (B) having no free hydroxyl groups and the corresponding 13#-methyl compounds, by reacting an appropriate steroid containing at least one ketoxime grouping and wherein any hydroxyl substituent may be free, esterified or etherified, with an appropriate trialkylhalosilane in the presence of a base (e.g. pyridine) in a dipolar aprotic solvent. Compounds of classes (A) and (B) are said to be of use in fertility control, and may be made up with carriers into pharmaceutical compositions for unspecified routes of administration.
