1329239 Making pipe fittings; angular bending REYROLLE PARSONS Ltd 17 Sept 1970 [3 Nov 1969] 53826/69 Headings B3A and B3E A method of fabricating a tubular joint of rectangular cross-section comprises forming convolutions in flat plate members, forming corners in the convolute plate members and then welding the members together to form the rectangular expansion joint. A bending device for forming the corners in the convoluted plates 1, 2, comprises a rotating former 4, Fig. 4, and clamp 5 both shaped to fit the convolutions of the plates Fig. 3 (not shown). To prevent the inside section of the plate from collapsing there are provided support members 7 and 8 moving forward on rollers 9. The expansion joint consists of two channel-shaped convoluted plates welded together or alternatively four separate convoluted corner pieces welded to convoluted side members.
