1328885 Printing nylon; finishing fabric BEGY SOC EUROPEENE DE BAS SANS COUTURE 14 Aug 1970 [27 Aug 1969 10 June 1970] 39376/70 Headings D1B and D1S [Also in Divisions F4 and G2] Designs on tubular seamless textile articles such as nylon stockings or tights are produced by impregnating the article with a photosensitive substance, mounting the article on a tubular form with the inside surface of the article contacting the form, and projecting or contact printing a pattern to produce a peripherally continuous design. The photosensitive substance may be a diazotype material, which produces a positive design on exposure and development, or an indigosol dye which produces a negative design directly on exposure. The tubular form may carry the desired patterns on its external surface and the article may be contact printed using a light inside the form. Alternatively, the pattern may be projected externally or internally onto the form; in the latter case the form contains a concave reflector to reflect the light onto the form. The design may be fixed on the article by subjecting it to steam at or above atmospheric pressure.
