Abstract

1328765 Boots &c C R ISMAN 8 May 1972 [18 May 1971] 23201/72 Heading A3B An article of footwear includes a sole assembly 2, 3 which can be detachably secured to an upper 1, e.g. in the form of a sock or stocking. As described the inner part 3 is placed inside the sock 1 and is pressed into a recess in the outer part 2, a flange 12 on the inner part 3 engaging a groove 11 in the outer part 2 to hold the parts 2, 3 together with the sock 1 clamped therebetween. Various shapes of inter engaging members on the parts 2, 3 are illustrated. Alternatively the two parts 2, 3 can be held together by magnets (not shown). These arrangements allow the use of a sock or stocking as the upper without making holes in or otherwise damaging the sock or stocking.
