Abstract
1328548 Microwave oven MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 25 Nov 1970 [1 Dec 1969] 56152/70 Heading H5H A microwave oven is evenly energized by transmitting the microwave output of oscillator 21 via a first waveguide 7 and a second waveguide comprising coaxial conductors 12, 17 to the oven cavity 1, the inner conductor 17 being secured to a rotary shaft 15 of a blade mode stirrer 20 and the outer conductor 12 being fixed in relation to the cavity and being designed to modify the energy distribution and make it more nearly uniform. Although the mode stirrer 20 would provide a uniform energy distribution in a circular cavity the energy distribution modifying means is required to allow for shapes other than circular e.g. square, rectangular or hexagonal. As shown, conductor 12 is provided with four angular spaced projections 14 which lie on the diagonals of the rectangular cavity. In Figs. 3, 4 and 5 (not shown) the conductor 12 is provided with metal pins lying on the diagonals of the cavities. In other embodiments notches are formed in the bottom of conductor 12, portions of the conductor 12 are thickened, or apertures are formed in conductor 12.
