Abstract

1327981 Feeding record tapes COMPAGNIE DES COMPTEURS 8 Jan 1971 [9 Jan 1970] 986/71 Heading G5R In a magnetic recording system using intermittent drive of the record medium, the stopping of the record medium and the recording of an item of information are initiated by the playback of an index signal from the record medium, a further index signal being recorded at the same time as the item of information. As shown, an item of information S is recorded via stores 15, gates 16, amplifiers 17 and heads 20 1 -20 6 at each step of a recording tape 10, the step being initiated on receipt of a signal OE and ended by a brake 13 on the playback of a recorded index signal SC by a head 22. The index signal SC is rerecorded by a head 21, so that the length of each step is approximately equal to the distance L between the air-gaps of the heads 21 and 22. The tape 10 may be driven by a capstan 11 and pinch roller 12 or by a vacuum capstan.
