Abstract

1327632 Incubating apparatus NEW BRUNSWICK SCIENTIFIC CO Ltd 8 April 1971 9087/71 Heading C6F [Also in Division B1] Apparatus for shaking incubator flasks 45 in a bath 14 comprises a plate 43 supported by a triangular frame 39 resting on a driving crankshaft 34 and two idler crankshafts 36 see also Fig. 2 (not shown). The crankshaft 34 is rotated by a permanent magnet coupling 26, 38 acting through the bottom wall 17 of the bath, whereby the frame, plate and flasks are given a circular motion of translation. In another embodiment see Figs. 7-10 (not shown) the driven member of the coupling is connected to the triangular frame by an adjustable throw crank whereby the plate 43 and flasks are given a rectilinear reciprocating motion, the plate and frame being supported on self-lubricating plastics blocks (71) restrained by guide walls (66). Liquid is circulated continuously through the bath 14, its level being controlled by a drain tube 54 pivotable at its lower end about a horizontal axis and retained in position by engagement of an operating rod 55 see also Figs. 4-6 (not shown) in one of a series of recesses (57).
