1327534 Valves WESTINGHOUSE BREMSEN-UND APPARATEBAU GmbH 17 Jan 1972 [27 Jan 1971] 2112/72 Heading F2V A valve assembly for connecting a fluid supply 1 with an accumulator 4 when the pressure in the latter is below a cut-off pressure and a re-connection pressure, comprises a main passage 2, 5 through which fluid flows to the accumulator, a passage 10, 15 through which fluid flows to a reservoir 7, and a main valve member 13 controlling fluid flow in the passage 10, 15. Pressure in the accumulator 4 acts on a surface 16, which at the cut off pressure causes rightward movement of the valve member 13 against springs 22, 23. Fluid is therefore directed to the reservoir 7 via the throttling passage 15. In addition fluid flows into passages 11, 21 and acts on a piston surface 17 causing further rightward movement of the valve member. User equipment causes the pressure to drop below the cut-off pressure in the accumulator, however the valve member 13 does not shift leftwards to charge the accumulator until a much lower reconnection pressure is attained, due to the pressure acting on piston 17. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) the throttling passage 15 is replaced by a flow restriction valve (25) interconnected with valve member 13.
