Abstract

1327331 Thiomorpholine derivatives IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 14 March 1972 [25 Jan 1971] 3089/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division A5] The invention comprises compounds of formula and their acid addition salts, wherein R<SP>1</SP> is H or C 1-4 alkyl or alkoxy, R<SP>2</SP> is H, C 1-4 alkyl, C 3-4 alkenyl or alpha-phenyl-C 1-4 alkyl, and A is S or S # O. In examples, these compounds are prepared by (1) (when A is S) reducing the corresponding 5-oxothiomorpholines, (2) replacing a group R<SP>2</SP> (but not alkenyl) by reaction with ClCO 2 Ph and hydrolysing the corresponding 4-phenoxycarbonylthiomorpholines so formed and (3) (when A is S#O) oxidizing the compound in which A is S, with NaIO 4 . Intermediates otherwise prepared are aroxymethylthiiranes, compounds of formula
