Abstract
1327310 Hydrodealkylation; benzene HYDROCARBON RESEARCH Inc 12 Nov 1971 52712/71 Heading C5E An alkylated aromatic hydrocarbon feed is hydrodealkylated by (a) reacting the feed with an H 2 -containing gas at 1100-1500‹ F. and 500-800 p.s.i.g.; (b) separating cooled effluent from the reaction zone into an H 2 -containing vapour portion and a liquid portion; (c) separating the liquid portion into a light hydrocarbon gas and a first liquid bottoms; (d) separating the first liquid bottoms into a second liquid bottoms and a benzene overhead effluent; (e) contacting the H 2 -containing vapour from (b) with the second liquid bottoms to absorb benzene; (f) venting the H 2 gas and returning the liquid bottoms absorbent from the absorption zone to the second separation zone at (c); and recovering benzene as product from step (d). The feed may be a C 6 -C 9 aromatics cut containing more than 1% benzene and/or non- aromatics.
