Abstract
1326964 Cleaning tanks J J RICHARDSON 10 July 1972 [26 April 1971] 11445/71 Heading A4F In washing apparatus particularly for washing a milk tank and comprising reservoir 1 for washing liquid replenished from a reservoir 4 in operation of the apparatus, a switch 9 is actuated by afloat 13 to stop a pump 5 to cut off flow through an outlet 20 of the reservoir 1 when the liquid falls to a predetermined level, so that the liquid level then rises to cause the flow through the outlet 20 to recommence, thereafter to continue intermittently, the average rate of flow through the outlet being greater than the rate at which the reservoir 1 is replenished so that the intermittent flow continues until the fluid in the reservoir 4 drops to a level at which a float 14 actuates a switch 10 to energize the pump 5 to produce a continuous flow through the outlet 20 until a switch 7 is actuated by a float 11 to stop the pump 5 and cut-off the flow through the outlet 20. For cleaning a milk tank the pump outlet 19 is connected to sprayers in the tank, which spray detergent solution during the period of intermittent flow. An electromagnetic valve in a dispenser 2 for supplying detergent to the inlet of the pump 5 is opened by actuation of a switch 8 by a float 12 when the level in the reservoir 1 falls initially. During the intermittent flow the switch 9 in series with the switch 8 causes intermittent actuation of the dispenser 2. Also when the float 14 actuates the switch 10 to produce the continuous flow an electromagnetic valve in a dispenser 3 is opened to supply a sterilizing solution to the pump inlet.
