Abstract

1326789 Photoconductive composition EASTMAN KODAK CO 1 Oct 1970 [3 Oct 1969] 46824/70 Heading H1K A photoconductive composition comprising a photoconductor and a sensitizing dye of formula wherein Q 2 represents the atoms necessary to complete a heterocyclic ring having 5 or 6 atoms in the nucleus; R 1 and R 2 are alkyl, COR 5 , H, aryl or heterocyclic or together the atoms necessary to complete a heterocyolic ring: R 5 is alkyl, aryl, alkoxy, amino or heterocyclic; R, and R 8 are H, alkyl or aryl; m is 1 or 2 and L is a methine group. In the specific embodiment a support of polyethylene terephthalate having an organic conducting coating thereon is coated with a mixture of 3-[-(1-N-methylaniline-4,6-dip - tolyl - 2(1H) - pyridylene) - ethylidene] - 2H- pyrido [1,2-a] pyrinridine-2,4-(3H) dione as sensitizer; poly(vinyl-m-bromobenzoate-co-vinyl acetate) or poly (4,41-isopropylidene-bisphenylene oxyethylene-co-ethylene isophthalate) as binder and 3(4-diphenyl aminophenyl) propionic acid or methyl proprionate, 4-carboxy triphenylamine or bis-4-diethylamino tetraphenylmethane. Many other supports, sensitizers, binders and photoconductors are specified. The dye sensitizer may be bleached by exposure to intense light.
