Abstract

1325971 1-N-chloroaminocyclohexanol BP CHEMICALS INTERNATIONAL Ltd 29 March 1972 [26 April 1971 11336/71 Heading C2C 1-N-chloroaminocyclohexanol is produced by reacting in the liquid phase cyclohexanone, an ammonium salt of an organic or mineral acid and an alkali or alkaline earth metal hypochlorite. The hypochlorite preferably sodium hypochlorite may be added as an aqueous solution. The preferred ammonium salts are, acetate formate, chloride, nitrate and sulphate and these may be added to the reaction in the form of a suspension or a solution in water. The reaction is suitably carried out at between - 30 to 50‹ C. and the reaction mixture may finally be cooled to - 30‹ C. The 1-N-chloroaminocyclohexanol is claimed per se.
