1325693 Granular fertilizers KAO SOAP CO Ltd 26 Aug 1970 [29 Aug 1969] 41037/70 Heading C1B The invention relates to a method of obtaining complex fertilizer products in the form of granules of uniform particle size which comprises granulating the fertilizer in a rotating pan or drum into which a suitable amount of a binding agent comprising an aqueous solution of a water solubilized macromolecular vinylic compound is introduced, the solution having been obtained by dissolving a substantially water-insoluble macro-molecular vinylic compound, in a solution of an anionic surface active agent and drying the granular product obtained. Suitable vinylic compounds include polyvinyl acetal, polyvinyl acetate, waterinsoluble partially acetylated products of polyvinyl alcohols, water insoluble polymers obtained by graft polymerization of vinyl acetate on polyvinyl alcohol, water insoluble copolymers of vinyl acetate with compounds such as vinyl pyrrolidone and maleic anhydride and copolymers of vinyl acetate with compounds such as vinyl laurate. The aqueous solution of polymer is obtained by dissolving the macromolecular vinylic compound in a concentrated solution (generally 10-30%) of an anionic surface active agent.
