1325123 The manufacture of non-returnable plastics containers K OTT [trading as HABRAWERK WILHELM F OTT] 16 March 1972 [20 March 1971] 12444/72 Headings B8C B8D and B8P A method of manufacturing a non-returnable packing from a web of plastics foil, which may have been previously printed, whereby the web is longitudinally stuck, or welded, to form a hose and is then cut into component sleeves the bottom portions of which are drawn over a mandrel for final shaping and glueing or welding together, is characterized in that, prior to the separation of the sleeves along lines 3, 4, there are impressed, adjacent the cutting line 4 for the base of each sleeve at both sides of the latter spaced bending folds 7. The latter have downwardly-curved portions 8 which intersect the corners of cut-out portions 5 which are punched out when the hose is cut into component sleeves. The portions of the folds 7 which are parallel with the base cutting line 4 are spaced from the latter by an amount equal to half the bottom width of the package, Fig. 4, plus half the overlap 13 required for sticking, or welding, the bottom of the packing. The spacing from the upper cutting line 6 of each punched out portion 5 to the cutting line 4 is equal to approximately one quarter of the bottom width of the package. The completed sleeve is drawn on to a mandrel, or, into a negative pressure mould, and the bottom of the sleeve is folded up to form the base of the packing legs 12, alongside the cut-out portions 5, being formed by welding. Standing legs 14 can also be shaped into the bottom of the package, and the upper end of the latter is provided with a sealing rim (11), Fig. 3, not shown.
