Abstract

1324806 Salts of 1 : 2 metal complex dyes BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 25 Nov 1970 [26 Nov 1969] 56043/70 Heading C4P The invention comprises salts of 1 : 2 metal complex dyes of azo or azomethine dyes containing at least one sulphonic acid group with at least a molar amount in each case of a basic dye and an aliphatic amine. Suitable metallizable azo dyes are o-o<SP>1</SP>-dihydroxy-, o-carboxy o<SP>1</SP>- hydroxy and o-hydroxy-o<SP>1</SP>-amino monoazo dyes and compounds bearing a hydroxy group ortho to the azomethine bond are suitable as azomethine dyes from aromatic amines and aldehydes. Iron, cobalt and particularly chromium complexes are preferred. Basic dyes which may be used are azo, oxazine, azine, thiazine, methine and preferably triarylmethane or xanthene dyes. The aliphatic amine used may be primary, secondary or tertiary and have 4-18 carbon atoms and may be linear, cyclic or a branched chain. Mixtures of amines can also be used. The dye salts may be prepared by reacting the metal complex dyes with the basic dyes and amine in an alcoholic or glycolic solvent. The dye salts are suitable for colouring transparent plastics and for the production of transparent varnishes, printing inks and ball point pen inks.
