Abstract

1324238 Locks J C BROWN 25 May 1971 [25 Feb 1970] 9139/70 Heading E2A A key-operated door bolts 26 (only one of which is shown) is moved by a pinion or other gearing 25 engaging a rack on the bolt, and an electrical alarm contact 15 is also operated by rotation of the key, (the contact plate 15 being shown reversed to show the contact strip 16). A key, sufficiently inserted from the near end, abutts a plate 27 welded to a locking slider 28 having risers 31, 32 inserted in slots 37 to engage slots in the rotary plate 15, and the bolt or bolts 26. Electrified strips 33, 34 are caused to make contact by the rotation of contact carrier 18, discs 23, (only one of which is shown) and gear housing 24 when an incorrectly fitting key is inserted. Strip 35 and 36 behind the plate give the alarm if the plate is pushed back too far. The bolts are received in a series of boxes 39 whose position is adjustable to suit the spacing of the bolts by means of screws 50 in a keeper plate 41 secured to the door frame. A temperaturesensitive alarm may be incorporated.
