Abstract

1323936 Rolling threads OKABE CO Ltd 16 Sept 1970 [7 Nov1969] 44123/70 Heading B3M A thread rolling machine has two coaxial cylindrical dies 4 and two fixed arcuate dies 5, one associated with each cylindrical die, the dies serving simultaneously to form two threaded portions 14 on a rod fed between them. In addition to the dies 5, further fixed dies 6, Fig. 1, are employed for forming annular stop rings 15 adjacent the threaded portions 14. Rods 13, Fig. 2, are fed from a hopper 9 to the dies, with the help of an agitator wheel 11, a pair of plates 12a and 12b controlling the movement of the rods between the dies. One of the dies 4, and its associated arcuate die 5, is adjustable axially of the machine to vary the spacing of the rolled portions on a rod. The plate 12a, Fig. 8, is operated by a pivoted lever 24 controlled by a cam 28, and the plate 12b is spring loaded towards the associated die 4.
