Abstract

1323260 Burglar alarms PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 4 Nov 1971 [7 Nov 1970] 51356/71 Heading G4N [Also in Division H1] A switching device for rendering an apparatus 9 (which may be, for example, an ultrasonic Doppler-effect burglar alarm with a delayed response) operative and inoperative comprises a plurality of actuators 1 which after actuation return to their rest positions, and one or more of which must be actuated according to a predetermined code to render the apparatus inoperative, wherein arbitrary actuation of one or more actuators to render the apparatus operative determines the said code and the same actuator or actuators as has or have been thus actuated must therefore subsequently and exclusively, be actuated to render the apparatus inoperative. As shown, a plurality of pushpush switches have contacts 7 connected in parallel such that depression of any one or more closes a circuit of apparatus 9 and each depressed switch, and only each depressed switch, must again be depressed to open the circuit. Each switch may comprise a pawl (15, Fig. 2, not shown) which steps a ratchet wheel (17) upon each depression of a button 1, said ratchet wheel carrying contact members (19) which at alternate steps bridge fixed contacts (21). Alternatively the buttons 1 may act directly on contacts controlling flip-flop circuits with transistors serving in place of switches 7.
