Abstract

1323222 Seats with magnets D E FYNN 8 March 1972 [31 March 1971] 8748/71 Heading A4J [Also in Division A5] Therapeutic apparatus comprises a non- ferrous seat 6 having a permanent magnet 10 inset in the top thereof and arranged so that, in use of the apparatus, the magnet comes in close proximity to the skin and base of the spinal column of a person seated on the seat. The magnet is preferably in the form of a square ring, the seat 6 having an opening therethrough under the central opening of the magnet and being provided on its underside with runners removably supporting a container 12 under said opening for receiving any fluid discharged due to the influence of the magnetic field. The seat 6 may form a removable part of a rigid chair, or a wheelchair, provided with a removable foot rest 9 having inset into the upper surface thereof two rectangular ring permanent magnets. In use the patients feet are placed one over each magnet on the foot rest, and any fluid discharged is collected in depressions in the footrest within the central openings of the magnets thereon.
