1323130 Enamelling metals G SCHAUMBURG 2 Dec 1970 [14 Nov 1970] 57269/70 Addition to 1277755 Heading C1M A process for improving the detectability of surface defects in rolled products as claimed in Specification 1,277,755 which includes the additional step of, prior to coating the product with vitreous enamel, directing a jet of water at a pressure of more than 100 atmospheres against the product to remove scale. Preferably the quantity of water supplied is greater than 200 litres per minute, the diameter of the jet is between 0À2 and 3 mm and its speed is between 15 and 100 metres/second. The water is supplied from a pressurized water installation 13 located intermediate the final roll stand 1 and a treatment chamber 4 where enamel is blown on to the product 3.
