Abstract
1322481 Textile fibres comprising poly(1,4- cyclohexylene dimethylene terephthalate) EASTMAN KODAK CO 7 Jan 1971 [9 Jan 1970] 832/71 Heading B5B [Also in Division C3] Textile fibres are obtained by adding to poly- (1,4-cyclohexylene dimethylene terephthalate), by any conveienent means prior to final extrusion, 0À3% to 6À0% by weight, of precipitated barium sulphate, the fibre then being extruded and subsequently processed in the conventional manner, for example to produce staple fibres of continuous filaments suitable for use in carpets. Fibres made by this method have improved soilholding properties. and the fibres can be made in any desired cross-section. Fibres produced by this method avoid the chalky appearance before and after dyeing and thus it is possible to provide a single lustre fibre and eliminate the need for a blending step in making spun carpet yarn from the polymer. The average size of the barium sulphate particles is 0À8 microns. The optical brightener, a fluorescent compound 4-41- bis(benzoxazol-2-yl)stilbene is used in some of the Examples.
