Abstract

1322231 Waste disposal system WASCON SYSTEMS INC 5 Aug 1970 [4 March 1970] 37721/70 Heading E1C [Also in Division F1] A hydraulic transportation system for conveying waste solids in a pressurised water flow comprises a main duct 10 and a by-pass conduit 14 of smaller cross-section, there being a chamber 25 in the by-pass for introducing waste which is subsequently removed by flooding with water from the by-pass. A throat 11 in the main duct creates a pressure drop across the by-pass and the chamber 25 having inlet and outlet gate valves 15, 16 has a waste delivery duct 26 closed by a further gate valve 27. A pump 28 is provided to evacuate water from chamber 25 through pipe 30 for reinjection through 31 into the by-pass downstream so facilitating re-introduction of more waste. In a modification Fig. 2 (not shown) a pneumatically actuated piston (44) forms an end wall of chamber (34) to assist in the removal of waste to the duct. A plurality of by-pass conduits may be provided for a larger system with direct entry to a sewerage system and having means for pulping waste solids into a slurry form. In an alternative embodiment Fig. 4 (not shown) the throat 11 is substituted by a pump (74) which creates sufficient pressure in the main duct to drive waste from the by-pass. The gate valves are operated by solenoids controlled remotely from a point adjacent the inlet 29 of the delivery duct.
