Abstract

1321456 Motor casings GENERAL MOTORS Ltd 6 May 1971 [7 May 1970] 22103/70 Heading H2A The interior of a motor, particularly a windscreen wiper motor, is vented to atmosphere by an outlet 4 having a shroud forming a labyrinthine air passage 6 which prevents the entry of liquid into the motor, the shroud comprising a cup 7 formed, as shown, on the cover 2<SP>1</SP> of a gear-box integral with the motor casing and having spaced, concentric walls 9, 10 on to which is fitted a cap 8 also having spaced, concentric walls 12, 13 and provided with spacers 15 which align the cap so that the pairs of walls 12, 13 and 9, 10 are interdigitated but radially spaced from each other. A futher vent to the interior of the gear-box may be provided by drilling through the base of the cup 7 at 16. The motor casing may be formed of plastics material or metal which may be plastics-coated.
