Abstract
1321228 Sodium tripolyphosphate ALBRIGHT & WILSON Ltd 9 July 1970 [23 July 1969] 37054/69 Heading C1A Substantially anhydrous granular sodium tripolyphosphate is at least partially hydrated, thereby increasing its bulk density, by adding to the granules an aqueous solution of sodium tripolyphosphate. The hydrated sodium tripolyphosphate produced may have a bulk density in the range 0À60 to 0À74 grams./cc. The sodium tripolyphosphate solution, obtained for example by dissolution of fines obtained as waste products in the production of anhydrous granular sodium tripolyphosphate may contain 10 to 27% by weight of sodium tripolyphosphate. Methods of application include spraying on to a layer 1 granule thick or on to a fluidized bed of the granules or mixing. In an example tripolyphosphate (500 g.) is placed in mixers and sprayed with 15 weight per cent sodium tripolyphosphate solutions. In quantities to give 25-100% conversion to hexahydrate. Sieve analyses of initial and 75% hydrated materials are given.
