1321192 Grain-sorting apparatus KALKER TRIEURFABRIK UND FABRIK GELOCHTER BLECHE MAYER & CIE 21 Jan 1971 2863/71 Heading B2H A grain sorting apparatus Fig. 1, comprises a round-grain drum sorter 1 into which the grain mixture a to be sorted is fed, a longgrain drum sorter 2 for receiving the drum output b of the sorter 1, a round-grain drum gleaner 3 (or secondary sorter) for receiving the trough output c from the sorter 1 and a long-grain drum gleaner unit 4-5 for receiving the drum output d of the sorter 2. The sorters and gleaners are rotatable and have cells on their inner surfaces and each contains an axially fixedly mounted trough in which a discharge screw conveyor rotates. The round-grain sorter 1 has beneath the trough, one or more beater blades and feed screw conveyor. The gleaner 3 is partly surrounded by a screen 13. The drum product f passes into the screen, thin grains g passing through the screen and large grains h being removed from the interior thereof. The trough product i consists of round and broken grains. The gleaner unit 4-5 consists of a gleaner 4 with cells of the same size as the sorter and a gleaner 5 of greater cell size enclosed by a screen 10. The gleaners 4, 5 are separated, by a spider 7 consisting of hollow spokes, Fig. 5, through which the trough product k of the gleaner 4 is removed while the drum product passes between the spokes directly into the drum of the gleaner 5. Long grains j leave the drum of the gleaner 5 through hollow spokes 14 while the trough product l passes into the screen 10, their grains m passing through the screen and large grains n being removed from the screen interior.
