Abstract
1320366 Track aligning apparatus CANRON Ltd CANRON LIMITEE 5 Aug 1970 [4 Sept 1969] 37881/70 Heading B7N [Also in Divisions G1 and G3] In a mobile railway track aligning apparatus, the position of a shadow board 4, Fig. 2, mounted on track moving machine 26 and operating between radiation transmitter 1 and receiver 2, is determined by a previously recorded representation 31 of the desired alignment condition. As described the apparatus moves twice over the track, operating first, Fig. 1 in.a recording mode and subsequently, Fig. 2 in an alignment mode. During the first pass signals from receiver 2, Fig. 1, operate a motor 5 and this via gear-box 6 maintains shadow board 4 in a position which just detects the radiation reference line 3. Movement of the board controls potentiometer 7 which supplies an output signal via amplifier 8 to drive a motor 9 coupled to the pen of a recorder which is driven in synchronism with movement of the apparatus. The record formed is of the actual alignment condition of the track and from this the operator determines the desired alignment position and draws this on the record in an ink which a photo-cell can detect relative to the record base. During the second pass, Fig. 2, the record is mounted and again driven in synchronism with movement of the apparatus and the desired position curve is followed by photocell 20 controlled by motor circuit 21 in response to error signals from the cell. The cell movements operate a potentiometer 21a which supplies an output signal to motor 22 to move the shadow board to a position defined by the desired position curve. The shadow board is mounted to move with the track moving apparatus 26 and at each stop is moved with the track until receiver 2 halts the movement with an output signal indicating that the board has detected the reference line 3.
