Oil switches; switchboards. - In switch gear for controlling the connexions between sectional or duplicate bus-bars, the two main oilbreak switches B, B<1> and the isolating-switches C, C<1>, D, D<1> therefor are combined in one structure in which all the live contacts are immersed in oil. The main switches may be in the same oil chamber separated by a partition; the switches C, C<1> between the main switches and the bus-bar sections are preferably in separate oil chambers. The isolating-switches D, D<1> connecting an oil-immersed reactance or other apparatus to the main switches may be in one chamber. An auxiliary movable contact K may be used to short-circuit the reactance, &c. All the switches may be in one tank, in which partitions may be arranged. Interlocks are provided for the switches ; the isolating switches are automatically earthed for example by devices as described in Specification 122,443. Specification 122,885 also is referred to.
