1320121 Mineral-mining machines COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd 22 Dec 1971 [8 Jan 1971] 1054/71 Heading E1F An electrical capacitor coupling for transmitting an electrical signal emitted from a rock quality-sensor 9 on a rotary cutter 2 of a mining machine to a signal indicator 37 on the body 4 of the machine comprises two relatively rotatable conductive, annular elements 18, 24 so disposed coaxially of the drive shaft 6 of the cutter 2 as to be spaced from, but adjacent to one another, e.g. a spacing of 1/16-¢in., the elements being bolted insulation 20, 26 secured respectively to the bottoms of cylindrical chambers 39, 41 formed at the inner end of the cutter and the adjacent wall of the body. The chambers may be packed with either expoxy resin or grease, and surrounded by opposed labyrinth seals and one or more resilient, annular seals 40, 42.
