Abstract
1319735 Spray evaporators; drying dispersions CESKOSLOVENSKA AKADEMIE VED 15 June 1971 [15 June 1970] 27981/71 Heading BIB A dispersion of solid particles in liquid is dried by feeding it to the rotating drum 1 of a centrifuge which has an annular space 4 between the drum and the stator shell 5, so that some of the liquid is separated from the dispersion in the drum and thickened dispersion at a controlled concentration is atomized, through jets (not shown) in the radially outer surface of the drum, into a stream of hot gas (e.g. air) flowing through space 4 whereby the remainder of the liquid is evaporated. A mixture of dry solid particles in humid gas flows out of the shell 5 through tangential tube 10, and is passed to a separator. The hot gas is supplied to the space 4 through tube 8, and rapid movement is imparted to it by radial blades 13 on drum 1. Shell 5 may be heated by electric resistance band 15.
