Abstract

1319657 Prosthetic brassiere BERGER BROS CO 29 July 1970 [23 April 1970] 36770/70 Heading A3V A prosethetic brassiere in which each cup may be adapted to accommodate either breast simulating means, or a normal breast. Each cup comprises an exterior surface 48 and a liner 18, which define a pocket 50 in which breast simulating means, usually inflatable, may be accommodated, access being by the slit 26 which is a continuation of the line of V- seam 24. If the cup is to accommodate a normal breast the outer material and the liner form a double layer of material, the inverted V-seams 22, 24 being exactly superposed, shown in Fig. 3 by the solid lines, the dotted lines showing the position of the lever when simulating means are present. Each cup is extended some way around the side of the body; this has the effect of filling out the area where any supporting tissue may have been removed, and of restraining movement of the garment on the body of the wearer. Each cup tapers at the top to merge with a shoulder strap, concealing any scar tissue in that region.
