Abstract
1319581 Angular bending R E BENTON 20 Aug 1970 [26 Aug 1969] 42540/69 Heading B3E Apparatus for bending an elongate workpiece comprises a drive member 12 which is mechanically interconnected with a first bending member 14 such that movement of the drive member initially causes the first bending member to clamp the workpiece between adjacent portions of the first bending member and a second bending member 16 and then causes the portions to draw forward the workpiece held therebetween to bend it around the second bending member 16. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 2 a carrier 22 has a pin 20 mounted in a track 26 of a cam 24 so that rotation of the cam by the drive shaft 12 causes the carrier 22 and hence the bending member 14, to move radially inwardly to clamp the workpiece between the two bending members. The movement of the pin 20 relative to the cam is stopped by the end of the track 26 after which continued rotation of the drive shaft 12 causes the two bending members to rotate and effect the bending of the workpiece. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 4 the carrier 22 is attached to one end of a link 38 having a lost motion, the other end of the link being eccentrically mounted on the drive shaft 12.
