(Figs. 1, 2, not shown); so that they are temporarily and movably retained by a magnetized surface to which they are subsequently and permanently attached. In establishing the layout of laminar shapes 1 cut from material coated with ferromagnetic and adhesive layers, or of documents attached thereto, a planar supports (Fig. 3) of magnetized material, or of thin non-magnetized material overlying a magnetized surface T comprising, e.g. rubber loaded with ferromagnetic material; receives the laminae, which are retained for easy movement into final positions with reference to a grid pattern Q optically projected from above. Thereafter, pressure and heat are applied by a pivoting cover P to develop the latent adhesion and fix the shapes in final positions; for reproduction in situ or after transport of the planar support to reproduction apparatus. Large documents or photographic films may be similarly retained to a vertical surface, e.g. a wall for reproduction processes and opague masks may be magnetically retained thereupon.
