Abstract

1319527 Sealing headlamps FAUSTO CARELLO & C SpA 25 Aug 1970 [12 Nov 1969] 40901/70 Heading F4R A vehicle headlamp is sealed against ingress of moisture by provision of a protective cap 14 of resilient material which covers the hole at the rear of the reflector 1 through which the bulb base 8 projects. The cap comprises a first annular portion 15 which retains the cap in position at the rear of the reflector by fitting into a groove formed by the reflector 1 and a flange 36 extending outwardly from a collar around the hole in the rear of the reflector, and a second annular portion 17 which fits tightly around the bulb base, these two annular portions being connected by an interconnecting portion 19. Extensions 20 on the cap project at regular intervals from annular portion 15 and serve as flaps which can be gripped when fitting or removing the cap, which can be made of synthetic rubber. An annular bag 21 containing a hygroscopic salt is included inside the cap. A cap suitable for use with a halogen bulb is also described, Fig. 6, not shown.
