Abstract

1319451 Anchor nuts G K N SANKEY Ltd 19 Aug 1970 [23 Sept 1969] 46699/69 Heading F2H A nut 10, for securing parts 34 to a channel member 25 of the kind having its free edges 28 turned inwards, has a pair of parallel grooves 17 across one face 11, one on each side of the threaded bore 16 and with one or more sharp edges 15 (53, Fig. 5, not shown) upstanding from portions of this face 11 at the side of each groove remote from the bore 16. In the combination of nut and channel member, the arrangement is such that when the nut is in position, the free edges of the inturned flange 28 are clear of the bottom 18 of each groove and the sharp edges 15 (53) engage the return flanges 27 of the channel member so that the load on the nut is transmitted to the return flanges, resulting in a stronger structure than heretofore.
