Abstract

1319353 Pressure resisting closures ASCARGO SA 16 Sept 1970 44154/70 Heading F2P A hatch cover 25 of a fluid-tight tank cover assembly is held on a tank 21 by a central screwrod 3 passing through a nut 4 centrally on a bridge clamp 5, above the cover and ending in U-brackets 6, 26 which press against angle brackets 8, 23 welded to the tank sides, and upon opening, the cover is lifted by a ring 31 on the screw rod pressing against a bracket 32 welded to the cover, and the cover and bridge clamp are swung horizontally about an axle 19 to various open positions and are locked by a pin 9. An inspection opening 49 welded to the cover 25 has a cover 39 with a neoprene seal 40, a fire cut-off 48 with a metal cloth, and a bridge clamp 38 with a central nut and screw rod 43 having at its upper end a nut 45 with a hemispherical bronze head. The hatch cover 25 has a neoprene seal 24, and the screw rod 3 has, at its lower end, a bronze cap 30. The screw rod 3 has a square thread. The vertical rod 19 is unloaded during raising and lowering of the cover 25. When the inspection cover 39 has been raised, a bronze pin 46 is removed and the cover and bridge clamp 38 tilt, pivoted on a bronze rod 47, until the head 45 contacts the cover 25.
