1318896 Adipic acid esters BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABKIK AG 14 Oct 1970 [15 Oct 1969] 48802/70 Heading C2C Neutral adipic acid esters are prepared in a continuous process by reacting solid adipic acid with cyclohexanol or an alkyl alcohol (4-16 C) with or without methoxy or ethoxy groups at 120-180‹ C. in a mixing zone and the mixture passed to an esterification stage at 180‹ to 250‹ C. in which the alcohol is maintained boiling. A molar ratio of acid to alkanol of 1 : 2 in the mixing zone is preferred, and the reaction proceeds autocatalytically.
