Abstract

1318860 4,4<SP>1</SP>-Ditolyl sulphone GELSENBERG AG 28 Oct 1971 [29 Oct 1970] 50139/71 Heading C2C 4,4<SP>1</SP>-Ditolyl sulphone is separated from an aqueous isomeric mixture containing 4,41- ditolyl sulphone and accompanying isomers by treating the said mixture with a (C 1 -C 8 ) aliphatic alcohol to preferentially dissolve the said accompanying isomers from the mixture rather than 4,4<SP>1</SP>-ditolylsulphone, and separating the 4,4<SP>1</SP>-ditolylsulphone from the alcoholic extract. The preferred alcohol is isobutanol. Examples are given which illustrate the process.
