Abstract

1318810 Dyeing polyesters BAYER AG 22 Dec 1971 [23 Dec 1970] 59553/71 Heading D1B Polyester textile materials are dyed by an exhaustion process in which dyebaths containing disperse dyes in water-immiscible organic liquids and containing (a) a water-soluble anionic dispersing agent and (b) cationic and/ or non-ionic tensides are used. Preferably the ratio of the amounts of water-soluble dispersing agent (a) and cationic and/or non- ionic tensides (b) to the amount of dyestuff is 0.3-3:0.5-4:1. Polyethylene glycol terephthalate and cellulose triacetate are dyed preferably in tetra-chloroethylene, trichloroethylene, 1, 1, 1-trichloro-ethane or -propane, conventional anionic dispersing agents e.g. sulphite cellulose liquor and aromatic sulphonic acid derivatives being used, the tensides preferably being of formula I: in which R is C 1-22 alkyl or C 3-22 alkenyl group, R 1 and R 2 being H or C 1-22 alkyl or C 3-22 alkenyl group or a group -(C 2 H 4 O) m -R 3 in which R 3 is H or C 1-22 alkyl, a phenyl, or C 1-12 (alkyl) phenyl radical and n is 1 to 10, provided that RR 1 or R 2 has an alkyl chain of at least 5 carbon atoms and the total value of -the n values is not greater than 10, or their quaternisation products.
