1318175 Intra-uterine devices R R ROBINSON 19 April 1971 [28 Aug 1970] 26063/71 Heading A5R An intra-uterine contraceptive device comprises a pair of flexible elongated arms 30 joined at one end and each having an outwardly bowed portion 36 and a hooked end portion 38, wherein, to impede embodiment of the device in the uterine wall, a flexible membrane 26 extends between the bowed portions 36 and pliable membranes 48 are disposed in the hooked portions 38. Each membrane 48 is secured at only two locations 50, 52, to one leg 44 and the bight 46 of the corresponding hook 38, to permit the device to be folded and housed in an insertion device such as that described in Specification 1,128,290. The membrane 26 may be impregnated with copper particles. A lead 34 may be secured to an eye 32.
