Abstract

1318081 Echo sounding MARCONI SOUNDING DEVICE CO Ltd 23 Sept 1970 [20 Feb 1970] 8165/70 Heading H4D In a flashing light echometer signals from the receiver thereof are fed to the fixed primary winding of a transformer, and the rotating lamp is connected to the output of the secondary winding of the transformer which rotates in synchronism therewith. Arm 3 mounted on hub 4 is rotated by motor 1 through shaft 2. A magnet 13 closes switch 14 once per revolution, which triggers from generator 16 a pulse which is transmitted and also passed to receiver 12. The receiver output is fed to the shell type primary winding 6 which is coupled to the shell type secondary winding 7 which is keyed to hub 4 and flow rotates therewith. The secondary winding output is connected to lamp 5 which flashes at the instants of transmission and reception. A reactifying diode and smoothing capacitor may be inserted in the leads 10 (Fig. 2, not shown) to prevent multiple flashes due to ringing of the received pulse.
