Abstract
1317777 Thermal insulation A J VELDHOEN 15 June 1970 28764/70 Heading F4H In a thermally insulating wall structure for a cooling chamber which comprises layers of horizontally-disposed panels fitted against each other under pressure during the assembly of the wall, each panel consists of a foamed plastics material core 2 coated with a hard or non- porous outer skin, the vertical edges of which are provided with a semi-cylindrical recess 5 adapted to contain a tubular column 6. A pair of adjacent panels are held in position by coupling members, each of which comprises a tube section, consisting of two aligned portions 9, 10 to which a supporting plate 11 and a threaded stud 12 are secured by welding. In use the lower part 9 of the tubular section is slid into the column 6, and the stud 12 through a bore of a carrying structure 1. Initially the vertical edge of each core does not coincide with the axis of the corresponding bore. Upon tightening of the nut 13, the stud 12 is drawn into a relative straight position, the column 6 compressing the cores 2 of the panels. In another embodiment, the column 6 is dispensed with, hard plastics inserts being provided at both ends of each of the vertical boundary faces of the panels.
