Abstract

1317618 Hose couplings BTR INDUSTRIES Ltd 25 Oct 1971 [28 Oct 1970] 51230/70 Heading F2G In order to improve grip on the ends of wire reinforcement layers 13 of hoses having helically wound wire layers separated by inter-layers of elastomer or polymer, the crimping or swaging of an end fitting on the bared reinforcement is arranged to cause direct contact between adjacent layers of wires e.g. by providing spaces into which the interlayer material may be displaced. The displacement may be facilitated by softening the inter-layer, before joining, by heat or by means of a solvent. As shown, on swaging ferrule 16 on to tube 30, ribs 19 displace the inter-layer material into the intervening grooves
