Abstract
1317480 Molybdenum compounds recovery ATLANTIC RICHFIELD CO 7 Dec 1970 [9 April 1970] 58112/70 Heading ClA [Also in Division C2] Molybdenum compounds are recovered from distillation bottoms resulting from the epoxidation of olefins with organic hydroperoxides in the presence of a molybdenum catalyst by treating said distillation bottoms with water or aqueous ammonia and separating an aqueous phase containing molybdenum. The "distillation bottoms" referred to are defined as that fraction of the reaction product effluent remaining after removal of unreacted olefin, olefin oxide and a major proportion of the alcohol formed from the hydroperoxide. The molybdenum present in the aqueous extract may be precipitated as a phosphomolybdate or the aqueous extract may be concentrated by heating and the residue ignited to give molybdenum oxide.
