Abstract

1317082 Elevated railings G ARMSTRONG 12 May 1971 14396/71 Heading B7L [Also in Division G1] A manually operable article delivery system for conveying articles to a number of dispensing positions at the side of a restricted aisle, e.g. for dispensing food and beverages in aircraft, comprises an overhead conveyer track in the form of an I-section beam 38 (Fig. 4), a movable carriage 50 supported for movement along the track by means of rollers 54, 58, a bracket 102 dependent from the carriage 50 with a number of article supporting pallets 108 pivotably connected to the bracket for movement between an article supporting position (as shown) and a raised position following dispensation of the articles, and a peg 66 on the carriage 50 which is biased by a spring 69 to engage one of a number of apertures 46 spaced along an elongate member 44 carried by the beam 38 to positively immobilize the carriage 50 at desired positions along the track. To enable the carriage to be moved along the track the peg 66 may be retracted by means of a cable connected at 86 to a handle 84, the handle being mounted on pusher 82 for the carrier. The bracket 102 is connected to the carriage 50 by means of a universal joint 96 so that movement of the aircraft will not affect the level position of the pallets. The system may include a number of branch tracks 26 (Fig. 2), which may be connected in turn to the main track 22 via a junction disc 28 having arcuate connecting sections 30, 32, 34, and rotatably mounted at 35. (For Figures see next page.)
