1316719 Indicating tears in conveyer belts CLOUTH GUMMIWERKE AG 29 Nov 1971 [10 Dec 1970] 55322/71 Heading B8A [Also in Division H4] A conveyer belt is tested for longitudinal tears by moving it past a device responsive to noise due to a tear to trigger the production of an electrical pulse. The device may comprise directional microphones arranged above and below the belt and connected to circuitry preprogrammed with the expected noises due to tears, which compares continuously the incoming and stored noises and responds if they match. Transversely-disposed inserts may be incorporated in the belt to enhance the noise due to a longitudinal tear.
