1316242 Pesticidal phthalimidomethyl thiophosphonates STAUFFER CHEMICAL CO 6 Sept 1971 [23 Sept 1970] 41357/71 Heading C2P The invention comprises compounds of Formula I where R is alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, phthalimidoalkyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkylthioaryl, haloaryl, haloarylthioalkyl, alkylthioalkyl, carbalkoxyalkyl, carbamylalkyl, N-(hydroxyhaloalkyl)carbamylalkyl, carbamylhaloalkyl, thiodiazolyl, thiazolyl, thiazolylcarbamylalkyl, thiadiazolylcarbamylalkyl, benzimidazolyl, benzthiazolylcarbamylalkyl, cyanomethyl, alkylaminoalkyl or N - alkylcarbamylmethyl, X is sulphur and Y and Z are oxygen or sulphur. Compounds of Formula I may be prepared (a) by reacting an N-hydroxy- or N-mercaptoalkylphthalimide with a suitable alkyl hypophosphorothious acid or dimer thereof, and reacting the product with a compound R- halide or (b) by reacting a mercaptan RSH with a suitable alkylhypophosphorous acid (or thio analogue) dimer, and reacting the product with N-chloromethylphthalimide. The compounds of Formula I have insecticidal and fungicidal properties and may be used as the active ingredients in conventional pesticidal compositions.
