Abstract

1316150 Furnace walls DIDIER-WERKE AG 9 Sept 1970 [16 Sept 1969] 43169/70 Heading F4B Adjacent horizontal brick courses 1 of the rear wall of an open hearth furnace are secured on horizontal tie rails 4. The tie rails carry outwardly projecting angle brackets 6, and are secured against vertical supporting posts 2 by releasable locking elements 9 inserted from above between the posts 2 and the angle brackets 6. In modifications the locking elements are formed with only one vertical limb 10, or as single horizontal bars (Fig. 4, not shown). In another form of the invention used to support parts of the wall lining the rapidly corroded regions of an electric furnace, Fig. 5, angle brackets 6 attached to lining-supporting tie bars (not shown) project through apertures 15 in the casing 14 and are held by locking elements 9 extending between the brackets 6 and like brackets 8<SP>1</SP> secured to the casing 14.
