Abstract

1315774 Floor drying appliances CHAO YAU SHIENG 22 July 1971 [25 July 1970] 34484/71 Heading A4F A floor drying appliance comprises an endless belt 1 of absorbent material eg. cloth, or rubber or plastics sponge, mounted on at least three rollers 7, 18, 19 in a framework 4 provided with a rod-like handle 5d, a floor wiping area of the belt being defined between two rollers 18, 19, means for advancing the belt 1 to replace the wiping area after use by others in succession, and means for shifting the roller 7 to slacken the belt 1 to facilitate its removal from the framework 4. Roller keying mechanism Figs. 7 to 9, (not shown) is operable by a lever (21a) to advance the endless belt 1 by a length equal to the distance between the rollers 18, 19 to replace a wiping area by another; and actuation of a lever 11 pulls downwardly a support 6 carrying the roller 7 for slackening the belt 1 when it is to be removed. Apparatus for cleaning the belt 1 whilst it is in the appliance comprises a vessel 32 for cleaning liquid and containing cylindrical rollers 32f, 32g, and a roller 32h of non-circular section, the appliance being positioned so that the belt is squeezed between the roller 18 and the rollers 32f, 32g, and 32h whilst being advanced by a handle 34b Fig.12, (not shown) drivingly engageable with the roller 18. Various alternative cross sections of the roller 32h are illustrated in Figs.15(a) to 15(c) (not shown).
