Abstract
131,545. Foley, H. B. Feb. 7, 1919. Tread bands, projections, and surfaces.-For running on soft ground, a vehicle wheel is provided with two supplemental rings 9 whose inner edges are telescoped with the edges of the main rim 7. The rims 9 are secured by brackets 11 and bolts 12 to the felloe 6, and are provided with radial lugs 10 to which anti-skid chains 14 may be secured by snap-hooks &c. In the form shown in Fig. 4, one rim 9 is dispensed with and the chains 14<a> are secured at one end to the brackets 11 which are anchored to the wheel by bolts 11<a> hooked to the spokes.
